There are different classes of indicators and process indicators are not the same as biological indicators. Process indicators are the colored arrows, dots, etc., on the outside of sterile packaging and simply indicate that the item has gone through the process and is not considered actual proof of sterilization. It is a quick visual reference for the worker, client, etc. to ensure it has been sterilized, but biological indicators (spore testing) is still the only acceptable proof of sterilization.

For example, most autoclaves used by operators in shop, are heat and steam under pressure (as opposed to EO gas). Packaging for autoclaves that responds to steam would change color if you held them over a kettle (as they react to steam). Obviously that would not be considered sterilization. By Using a internal indicator your further showing your customers that the jewelry was actually placed inside an autoclave and was sterilized.
